Friends of the Howe House Receive Racial Justice Award from YWCA-NNJ

On April 19, 2023, the YWCA of Northern New Jersey (YWCA-NNJ) held its 9th Annual Racial Justice Awards event at the Montclair Art Museum.

The Friends of the Howe House were recognized as “trailblazers and role models, showing us through their actions what the diverse daily work of striving for racial justice and equality looks like.”

“We are so proud to spotlight the work of Friends of the Howe House and honor them with the Theodora Lacy Award,” said Helen Archontou, CEO, YWCA-NNJ.

“In the spirit of our work at the YW, Friends of the Howe House join in our mission to provide equity and undo racism and firmly believe that the foundation of their organization is based on having honest conversations that help us navigate the many intricacies of social justice work.”

“We know the work around racial justice is hard. Although we’ve witnessed much divisiveness over the last few years, we have also seen communities and individuals coming together to create positive change. Our honorees are a beacon of hope as you’ve learned tonight and are helping build a brighter and more inclusive future for all.”
